LOCATION: In
Balkh city, to the north.
DESCRIPTION: "The crumbling
walls encircling the fort area were built for the most part
in the Timurid period upon earlier foundations wich may go
back to the Kushan period in the early centuries A.D. The
grat knot of ruins to the east was the Arg or Citadel."
